Masters Retain the Trophy!
On Saturday our Over 45’s Masters team took on Queens Park in the Final of the Friendship Cup and came away triumphant following a resounding 5-0 victory.
Having walked away from an away fixture with the same team not so long ago losing 6-2 this was a chance for revenge against a good side with some youth and pace on their side.
The boys made a fantastic start and quickly got into a 2 goal lead. They kept their composure and didn’t let up for the entire game showing a fantastic attitude throughout. Excellent saves from Rowie in the 2nd half calmed the nerves and with the effervescent Man of the Match Kev Kav up front the goals continued to fly in, giving us a score that allowed 21 players to take to the field! None more deserving than the legend that is Ged Pedder who at 65 years young may well be the oldest Maghull Player ever!
All credit to Queens Park who continued to push despite the scoreline but it was not to be for them, we look forward to many more battles with them in the future.
The club would like to thank Joe Fay & Kev Hazard for all the hard work and effort that goes into allowing these lads to keep playing week in and week out and a huge congratulations to them on yet another trophy winning campaign, long may your success continue!
